I’m Dumitru Birsan, a software engineer based in Italy.
My work sits across frontend engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and industrial software. I’ve worked on systems ranging from React interfaces and backend services to Azure infrastructure and software communicating directly with industrial equipment.
What I work on
Some of my work starts with a serial cable and ends at a React interface, with a Node.js gateway and the cloud in between. I enjoy following that path and figuring out what happens when the pieces have to talk to each other. These days, I mostly do that through cloud infrastructure, microfrontends, and automated tests.

Community
At DevFest Modena 2025, I got to see the conference from the other side as part of the staff. I remember the work behind the scenes and the satisfaction when it was all done. I contributed to the DevFest and Women Techmakers Modena websites with Hugo and SCSS. I also take part in Reggio Emilia Fullstack, Modena Fullstack, and Bologna JS meetups, where some conversations outlast the talks.

I grew up in Anenii Noi, Moldova. Romania came next, then Italy. Moving countries meant learning languages, habits, and different ways of working. I speak Romanian, Italian, and English; I know what it’s like to be the person asking questions to find their bearings.
Outside work, I enjoy hiking in the Apennines, practising yoga, and playing games, especially action RPGs.
