Context
I look after Azure infrastructure and deployments to both Azure and Hetzner in one of my current freelance engagements. The work includes the pipeline that ships a change and the environment it lands in.
Challenge
Getting a deployment to run is one part of the job. Making it repeatable, checking the configuration, and keeping an eye on Azure costs and security are the ongoing parts. They need attention together, across two providers.
My contribution
- Manage Azure infrastructure and deployments.
- Manage deployments to Hetzner infrastructure.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Work on Azure cost optimization and review security configuration.
- Improve deployment reliability, repeatability, and operational practices.
Architecture & technologies
The work spans Azure, Hetzner, and the CI/CD pipelines used to deploy to them. I’m keeping the application-specific details private here.
Outcome & current status
I’m still working on this: maintaining deployment pipelines and cloud configuration, reviewing security, and working through Azure costs. There isn’t a single handover moment; looking after the environment is part of the work.
